gosh! it's 3:50 in the morning pero i still can't sleep! i checked out may-may's blog kanina and it's so funny! napaka-creative talaga nung gurl na yun, nasobrahan sa hilig sa anime!:)

it's funny how at first you feel so isolated in a new school, then after a few semesters you look back and you just smile and sigh...
even if i don't want to admit it, i have to say that i really am enjoying my stay in mcu. everybody is just so nice. i made lots of new friends and acquaintances. my protective covering (a.k.a. katarayan/kasungitan), my self-defense mechanism has finally shed and now i am glad to say that i am truly having fun sa school ulit after a very long time. i think i found a home sa school. :)

You just can’t help the fact that most celebrities that you look up to, more often than not, frustrate you. Take Aubrey Miles for example, I was stunned with her looks the first time I saw her. She has, by far, the most beautiful face in the “rated category” of showbiz. She left me craving for more after the Extra! Extra! Feature. I pictured her as an intelligent woman who is very much in touch with her artistic side. A woman, not only of beauty, but also of substance. I was mistaken.
Last week, as I was doing my daily habit of channel surfing, I saw a short clip of Boy Abunda interviewing my latest showbiz crush, Aubrey. I watched attentively as she strutted her perfect little body around the pool in a skimpy two-piece bathing suit. I was ogling with envy as she proudly showed-off her well-toned butt, her twin peaks and her tiny waist. And did I mention that she has perfect skin to cap it all off? She was immediately becoming my goddess, my idol. The perfect girl I always was hoping to be!
After showing off her goods, the interview came. Boy Abunda’s questions are a bit scary; sometimes it nearly crosses the line. As the camera fixated on Aubrey’s pretty face, it suddenly hit me. She is a true-blue airhead! Gifted with a pretty face and a beautiful body (with the help of a nearby health club!) she has nothing in between her ears! She answered Mr. Abunda’s questions just like any ordinary, cheap bold star would. I was devastated, frustrated! It seems that I can’t really find someone in the industry to really look up to. She answered all the questions with dignity all right but is dignity all that she has? Can’t she squeeze something out of that pretty little head of hers? Can’t she answer the questions without emphasizing the fact that she is the vainest girl in town? Can’t she answer the questions a step higher in the intelligence department? Well, it looks like she wouldn’t even qualify in that department (he he). Another Assunta de Rossi in the making. It seems that I can’t find someone in the glitzy world of showbiz whom I can idolize not only for her looks but also for her substance. Sad but true, the dumb and the beautiful are once again taking over the boob tube! How I wish that Nanette Medved is still active in showbiz- the last of the beauty and brains in the industry.
This just shows how empty the Filipino Entertainment Industry is, how shallow it can get and that it truly is just full of glamour. What happened to the true artists of our generation? The artists who are there not for the money but for art itself? How can people like me, be entertained by our empty entertainment industry? How can students like me be pulled to the movies if the stars in it are, uh, err – DUMB?
The industry is financially stable because of the ever-bankable bold genre of today. But not every youth of our land wants to see thong clad ladies in the movies right? We want quality films here. Q-U-A-L-I-T-Y. I don’t want my head filled with images of bikini clad Maui or Aubrey. I refuse to pay P50 to see them in their undies! I want quality films! Films that make me think. Films that challenges my mind without tarnishing my values.
The industry left me with no choice but to watch Juday flicks and the like. But, I will NEVER, ever watch any of those coiled-from-foreign-films-original-idea-daw movies!
Where are the creative minds of today? Top executives should fire all their writers, creative consultants, directors and all those in charge of casting. They should all be sued for plagiarizing foreign films, for stealing creative, intellectual property. Shame on Filipino writers! Shame on Filipino directors! Shame on you people patronizing such films! Shame on the producers for producing films with stolen content! Shame on them all!
